What is the best time of the year to visit Dubai?
The United Arab Emirates has a tropical climate with humidity levels in excess of 90% during the summer months. The ideal conditions for visiting Dubai are during the months of October to May. During this period, air temperatures range between 25 and 35°C. The highest temperatures are in the months of July and August, when temperatures reach up to 45-50°C. These days also see the highest humidity levels. Rainfall in the Emirates is rare, but sandstorms can be experienced at any time.

What language is spoken in Dubai?
Over the past few decades, Dubai has transformed into a closely-knit multi-ethnic country. Arabic is the official language, but English can be spoken virtually everywhere in the city. You don’t even need to speak Arabic as a resident.
Do I need a special visa to enter the country?
If you are travelling to Dubai for the first time with a Slovak passport, you do not need any special visa. Upon entering the country, your passport will be stamped with a 90-day multiple-entry visa, which is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and for a total stay of 90 days.
What is the coldest month in Dubai?
The coldest month of the year is January. The average temperature in Dubai in January is around 20°C, while the sea temperature can be a bit chilly for some, with a maximum of around 22-23°C, but this makes January a great month for water activities and refreshing enough to cool down after sunbathing. You’ll want to bring warmer clothes for the evenings though, as it gets quite chilly. Humidity is low, while rainfall averages 11 mm over two days with rain. During January there is a 76% chance of a perfect sunny day and a 24% chance of seeing some clouds, with an average of 5mm of rain falling this month.
Is Dubai a safe place for a woman?

According to the World Economic Forum’s 2022 Global Gender Gap report, the UAE is ranked as one of the leading countries for gender equality in the region. Dubai is even considered one of the world’s top 10 safest cities for female solo travellers. According to the local constitution, women have the same legal status, entitlements to titles, access to education, the right to practice a profession and the right to inherit property as men.
What currency is used to pay in Dubai?
International credit and debit cards are accepted almost everywhere in Dubai. You only need cash in very few cases (tipping the waiter, or at the hotel).
As in many other Arab countries, merchants in Dubai have a habit of bargaining. In the various markets, haggling is very much enjoyed by the merchants; most prices are deliberately inflated so that tourists can haggle with the shopkeepers over the price.
What to watch out for in Dubai?
Dubai is a beautiful city where tourists are always welcome, but you should also keep local customs and culture in mind when visiting. You need to be really wary of alcohol, acrimonious displays of affection and also homosexuality, which is not accepted here. Consumption of alcohol in public is also forbidden for tourists and you can be arrested for public displays of drunkenness. You can be arrested and deported for life at the same time if you drive a car with a minimal amount of alcohol. They have absolutely no sympathy with drugs here. Dubai is a very progressive city and displays of affection and mild violations are overlooked, no one will arrest you if you give your partner a kiss and hold hands, however other displays of affection can cause unnecessary complications. The UAE is different from Slovakia and like other countries and their cultures, it needs to be respected.
